Liečba v psychiatrii roku 1897

Článok oboznamuje čitateľa so zásadami liečby v psychiatrii v rokoch 18971900. Je spracovaný na základe dvoch českých učebníc psychiatrie z uvedeného obdobia, ktoré má autor článku v svojej súkromnej knižnici. Autorom učebníc je profesor Karel Kuffner, vtedy prednosta psychiatrickej kliniky v Prahe. Časť všeobecná psychiatria obsahuje všeobecné zásady liečby duševne chorých v roku 1897,v časti špeciálna psychiatria je opísaná liečba konkrétnych duševných chorôb. V tom období neexistovali žiadne antipsychotiká ani antidepresíva, nebola známa elektrokonvulzívna terapia v dnešnej podobe. Jednou z dôležitých liečebných metód v tom období bola hydroterapia – použitie vody v liečbe duševne chorých. Neexistoval pojem schizofrénia - ten zaviedli nemeckí autori až neskôr v dvadsiatom storočí.

Article introduces the reader to the principles of treatment in psychiatry in the years 18971900. It has been prepared on the basis of two Czech textbooks of psychiatry from that period which are owned by the author of this article. Textbook author is Professor Charles Kuffner, at that period head of the Psychiatric clinic in Prague. General Psychiatry contains the general principles of treatment of mentally ill in 1897, in the textbook on special psychiatry treatment specific mental illnesses is described. At that time (1897) there were no antipsychotics or antidepressants, electroconvulsive therapy was unknown in its current form. One of the important methods of treatment at that time was hydrotherapy - water use in the treatment of the mentally ill. There was no concept of schizophrenia - the German authors introduced it later in the twentieth century.
